How it Works
Remote data backup is a very popular solution, and its popularity grows day by day. How exactly does this solution work? Here is how:
1. Install Backup Software
First of all, you will need to locate a suitable service provider and register with them. Next, you need to download and install the program onto your PC or laptop. Most service providers will equip you with easy step-by-step instructions, or even a phone support number (some even provide 24/7 support lines).
2. Initial System Backup
Then you will need to perform the initial backup of your system. If you wish to backup every file, setting, and program on your computer, you need to choose the “full system” backup option (recommended). Alternatively, you can select only the critical files and folders for your initial back up. Once you make your selections, the system will run an initial backup of your system.
3. Subsequent Automated Backups
After you have performed the initial backup (often rather lengthy), you will now only need to run fast (several minutes each day) and automatic incremental backups (saving new or changed files). You can set the schedule for the backups to run every night, to run when you connect to a network, or when you shut down your computer. Additionally, you can perform manual backups any time you wish (making system changes, finished a project, and so on).
4. Retrieve Files via Program or Web
When you need to restore your damaged or deleted files to a previous version, all you need to do is open the remote program or web interface, click retrieve files, and choose the version of your files that you need (most programs will allow you to store several backup versions of your files).
If you have a hard drive failure, or your computer is stolen or destroyed, all you need to do is buy a new computer or install a new drive, download the software, recreate your account using your ID and key, and then restore your data from your remote data backup.
